Who are we?

We are part of a denomination of Christian Churches called the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC).  The UFMCC had its beginnings in 1968, with twelve men and women, in the Los Angeles living room of our founder, the Reverend Elder Troy Perry.  This denomination has grown to over 40,000 members, worshiping in 15 countries, and 300 churches  worldwide.  At MCC-Omaha, you will find a family of believers who want to share God's unconditional, all-encompassing love.  We welcome you to join with us on your own spiritual journey.

MCC-Omaha, like all MCC's, is all-inclusive.  We do believe that we are a house of prayer for all people.  Because of that, everyone is welcome, regardless of age, sexual orientation, sex, race, or previous denominational affiliation.  While our primary outreach is to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning community, our doors are open to everyone.  In fact here at MCC-Omaha, we have just about every combination of people that you can imagine.  We do believe and follow what Christ said when He said, "Whosever may come!"

MCC-Omaha was founded in 1974.  Moving through a series of worship locations, MCC-Omaha continued to grow and expand. In 1982, the congregation purchased its first church building.  Over the next ten years, the church grew, eventually outgrowing it's space.  With that growth, in 1992, the current church property, located at 819 S. 22nd Street; and in 2003, the mortgage to that property was paid in full.
