    CHRISTIANITY AND THE BIBLE

The Bible does not condemn loving same sex relationships as practiced in our culture.  Period.  Those who believe that the Bible condemns homosexuality are promoting a narrow selectively literal view of scripture that has proved harmful to many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.  Worse yet, these unfair, unhistorical and unbiblical views of only a half dozen verses in the Bible have frightened far to many GLBT people away from the church.

We invite you to join us for worship to experience God’s accepting and warm love.  We have free and well thought out information available at our church if you would like to study this topic further.  We also offer classes on homosexuality and the Bible.

Further understanding of our beliefs on this subject are found by clicking this link to read an excellent article by one of our MCC pastors; Dr. Rev. Mona West.  The page also includes other links for further reading.

    WHAT IS MCC ANYWAY?

MCC Omaha is part of a much larger organization called the Universal Fellowship of the Metropolitan Community Church.

It all began in 1968, a year before New York's Stonewall Riots, when a series of God-graced events in Southern California resulted in the birth of the world's first church group with a primary, positive ministry to gays, lesbians, bisexual, and transgender persons.

The events God used were these: a failed relationship, an attempted suicide, a reconnection with God, an unexpected prophecy, and the birth of a dream led to MCC's first worship service: a gathering of 12 people in Rev. Troy Perry's living room in Huntington Park, California on October 6, 1968.

That first worship service in a Los Angeles suburb in 1968 launched the international movement of Metropolitan Community Churches, which today has grown to 43,000 members and adherents in almost 300 congregations in 22 countries. During the past 36 years, MCC's prophetic witness has forever changed the face of Christianity and helped to fuel the international struggle for LGBT rights and equality.
