WHAT WE EXPERIENCE

Spiritual Growth & Membership

More than anything God wants each of us to experience deeper understanding of God through Jesus Christ.  The paradox is that to understand God we must first know ourselves and then get to know our neighbors.  When we attempt to get to know God on our own we are likely to create God in our own image.

Over time, the commitment of seeking more out of life and through the Spirit is prepares us to become servant-leaders with and for others.  It also deepens our knowledge of God helping us to live more authentically.

Here at MCC Omaha we have three sets of experiences that we call The Three Great Intersections.  At each Great Intersection four things come together: You, other people, the church and most of all the Spirit of God.

One of our new exciting Spiritual Growth Experience is "Creating a Life That Matters".  What is this program?  Read on....

CLM

Creating a Life that Matters (CLM) is all about relationships: intentional, authentic relationships - with the Sacred, our Self, and our Passion.  CLM transforms lives and inspires people to more directed, clear, passionate involvement in their life and in the life of the planet, through the support her at MCCO.

The Sacred:  While many would agree that relationship with the Sacred is the fundamental beginning of all faith paths, this transforming experience is often lost when we exchange our spiritual vitality for empty religious practices.  In the six sessions of Rediscovering Relationship with the Sacred, we explore what it means to be transformed by an encounter with the Sacred, and rediscover loving God with heart, soul and mind.

My Self:  As modern people, we expend time, effort and money seeking to understand who we are.  In Rediscovering Relationship with My Self , we explore some of the influences that have shaped us, and investigate ways to create a self we will want to live with, others will want to relate to, and God will be able to use in the service of all that is Sacred.

My Passion:  Our passions make us most aware of our personal power, energy and joy.  Many internal and external factors influence how successfully we manifest these passions in our lives.  In the six sessions of Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion , we explore ways to manage those factors, and discover what gives us power, energy and joy as we serve the Sacred through church.

Here at MCC we believe that we bring God with us to church.  God is not waiting for us in the church building wondering when the rebellious child is coming home.  Instead, we have access to God when we come together with others and open our hearts.  This can be done online.  Here is how we do that:

LEARNING AND ENLIGHTENING

More than anything Jesus Christ was a teacher.  He taught by telling stories, through prayer and in healing others.

Pastor Tom is an accomplished teacher with dozens of fascinating classes that you simply can’t find anywhere else in the region.  Unlike any Bible study you have experienced in the past our learning experiences will open your hearts, your minds and your eyes and you’ll probably make some new friends in the process.

CHILDREN

We delight in having children in our church.  In fact, children are a regular and important part of our community.  In fact, we find children are able to teach us a lot about the gift of simplicity, the pureness of faith and the power of truth.

A children’s lesson is given during the main worship service (usually a teaching moment for us adults too) and then children between preschool and 6th grade are dismissed downstairs to Sunday school.  Our Sunday School is supervised by two adults both of whom have undergone appropriate background checks.  During Sunday school your children will have the opportunity learn about the Bible and its characters and how God inspired them with love.

In addition to Sunday worship we have occasional events for children and their parents throughout the year.  For more information, please call the church office.

At this time we are in the process of developing a program for 7th through 12th graders.
